Persian rugs come in a wide range of different colours and designs.  Hamadan rugs are from the grouping of rugs referred to as village rugs.  Hamadan rugs get their name from the city of Hamadan, a city in the North West or Persia.  Hamadan is thought to be one of the oldest established cities in the world.

Description

This carpet is knotted in the city of Zanjan in northern Iran. The carpet is hand knotted in warm earthy tones, and the wool is of good quality. The patterns in Zanjan carpets are often geometrical with a centrally placed diamond medallion stretching from the top to the bottom.  The wool is soft and lovely under foot.
